UX Design Lead Full Time Permanent

THE POSITION

The User Experience Design Lead will be responsible for providing overall leadership for the user experience design and execution for a lending platform. The role will establish UX and UI design standards that are in concurrence with software design industry best practices.

You should have a deep understanding and experience with following the Design Thinking approach to user experience design, including developing detailed empathy and journey maps, building, user testing and iterating with a rapid prototyping cycle, and leading change in the organization to adopt these practices across the existing and new product and development teams.

You will be working closely with colleagues in Product Development, QA, and Product management in agile teams to build and progress our lending software products. The role may require infrequent travel to client sites or other development offices.

You will have a record of passionate ownership and design of great software products targeted to businesses or individuals and will ideally have experience with lending or banking software.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Establish strategic plans in partnership with product development and product management to build best in class user experiences
• Lead the creation of design deliverables such as journey maps, empathy maps, frameworks, conceptual designs, wireframes, prototypes, visual design, specifications and research
• Lead a future user experience team to drive these deliverables and design user experiences
• Translate abstracts into simple, elegant and innovative responsive designs for mobile, tablet and desktop
• Lead design vendor and agency relationships where required for specific initiatives
• Create and oversee strategies for user interviewing and usability testing
• Work with product management team to conduct focus groups and feed this information back into the design frameworks

QUALIFICATION

• 4+ years of relevant work experience in Research, UX and Software Product Design
• Experience building and leading high performing user-centered design teams
• Experience managing a multi-disciplinary team of designers and researchers
• Experience working in a software product organization, driving design from ideation to planning to release over multiple releases
• Experience designing for a broad set of UI platforms including web and mobile
• Deep expertise across all facets of human-centered design and user experience, spanning UX strategy, experience/interaction design, user research/assessment, prototyping, visual design, and user adoption
• Passionate, curious, smart, and creative with strong client facing and consulting skills
• Ability to not only adapt to change, but to be a driving force for positive change
• Possess strong problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently, apply judgment, maintain stable performance under stress and flexibility in an evolving work environment.
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously as required.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Ability to react quickly to complex situations; work with employees, customers and outside organizations in a professional manner.
• Self-starter with experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge and/or experience with Agile development methodologies and Design Thinking approach to user experience design are preferred
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Technical, Business, or Design discipline
